NYC in a nutshell

·       The subway blows. Although there were many subway workers who were great – some who even walked us to the next train.

·       The rats are not as large as I thought they would be. I was expecting small dog size but only witnessed large cat size. Fast little fuckers though.

·       I like the Village (East and West). Bar Pitti was a nice Italian joint to eat and drink (and drink some more) at a reasonable price. And the Italian waiters were easy on the eyes…even if they are mad gay…they were still hot.

·       Central Park is beautiful. I can’t wait to get my pictures developed. We walked the entire park! Without a mugger in site. Ok…the reality is pickpockets, rapists and a serial killer or two probably surrounded me…but it was so nice and sunny that day that I just didn’t notice. I did walk through the occasional puff of Mary Jane as it wafted out from the thick brush just past the reservoir. I did a double take and managed to see a transaction “going down”. I also saw a woman playing the violin and singing. She was slightly hidden behind a big rock and some trees, but the awful cat-like screeching coming from her instrument ad her voice box made it pretty clear that she had also purchased some mood altering entertainment…and smoked about a pound of it…I mean, no one is THAT bad and keeps on playing and singing…with the exception of American Idol hopefuls.

·       Jersey City has a certain quaintness that surprised me.

·       I looked for floaters along the Hudson, but didn’t find any. Maybe next time.

·       The WTC is still a mess – I had to leave the little church in a hurry – it was overwhelmingly sad.

·       The shopping was ok – I want a Kenneth Cole store like they have. But the shopping in LA is still far superior in price and variety.

·       Serving watered down drinks in teacups, The Back Room was a bit pretentious  (Sorry Tim Robbins but it’s true).  I still heart The Shawshank Redemption.

·       We saw one famous person – Fisher Stevens (actor) – but I’m not really sure he counts as famous. Famous, today, is a booze and/or sex hungry, attention grabbing blonde bimbo with boobs the size of honeydew melons. I consider Fisher Stevens more of an entertainment industry gypsy –actor, producer, director – definitely a respectable one in each venue. I would rather be Fisher Stevens than Lindsey Lohan any day.

·       Times Square is a cluster fuck. Why people flock there is beyond me. It serves no purpose other than to shout advertising in your overwhelmed face. It is a hub of overrated nothingness that does it’s best to suck out any form of self-thinking from your over-stimulated brain. But the lights are pretty at night. Ooooh…shiny.

·       MOMA was ok – I was not as impressed with the exhibits as I thought I would be – aside from the Jackson Pollack stuff –it was great to see those so up close and personal. The photography exhibit was closed for updates.
