MY BROTHER: You say I never keep you up to date on my health stuff, so…I went to the eye-doctor the other day to utilize my unused benefits before the “year end” of the plan.
This doctor was amazing. I’ve never had an eye-doctor spend as much time with me as he did. He laser-scanned the interior of my eye and showed me some of the structural elements….really cool.
The bad news…I learned that I have narrow-angle syndrome, and pretty far progressed. I have to have surgery on my eyes fairly soon to correct this before it becomes acute “narrow-angle glaucoma” which can cause permanent vision loss in 1 to two days if not treated.
Anyway, there it is. And to all of you who go to Costco or Sears to get your eye-exams, a bit of advice….I know cost is certainly a factor as it has been with me, but in my case at least, it was definitely worth it. (Actually, my insurance covered it so far.)
ME: Who the fuck goes to Costco or Sears to get their eyes checked? That’s like me going to Victoria’s Secret for my pap smear.
